About ClaimKit

What exactly is ClaimKit?

ClaimKit is a step-by-step digital guide system for California small claims court. It includes templates, checklists, worksheets, and plain-language explanations for every phase of the process, from your first demand letter to collecting your judgment. It also includes guides for when it gets hard, because going through a dispute is stressful and you shouldn't have to figure it out alone.

Is this legal advice?

No. ClaimKit is educational guidance and document templates, not legal advice. If you need legal advice, consult a licensed California attorney. That said, lawyers aren't allowed to represent either party at a small claims hearing anyway, so ClaimKit gives you everything you need to represent yourself with confidence.

Does ClaimKit work for my situation?

ClaimKit is built for California small claims court. It covers the most common disputes: unpaid invoices, security deposits, contractor disputes, property damage, breach of contract, faulty goods or services, bounced checks, and unpaid personal loans. If your dispute involves a different state or a different court, ClaimKit isn't the right fit.

How much can I sue for in California small claims?

Individuals can sue for up to $12,500 per claim. Small businesses can sue for up to $6,250 per claim. If your dispute is above these limits, small claims court isn't the right venue and ClaimKit may not be the right fit.
